At D'Avolio Culinary Institute we offer life long career services for students and graduates who have been actively working in the culinary arts field. Any graduate who has been inactive in culinary arts for more than 90 days will be asked to take a practical test to determine the best next step for their career.
Our Culinary Principles Plus Internship and Fundamentals of Basic Food Service programs include dedicated time towards career development. Each student will be engaged on topics such as: job search skills, interview techniques, resume writing, promoting a positive online image, customer service and communication/team work.
Students work in small groups and one-on-one with the Director of Career Services who is licensed to teach basic work preparation skills by the New York State Bureau of Proprietary School Supervision. Small group sessions include both lecture and hands-on activities to engage and reinforce importance of the topics.
Based on the program of choice a student may be required to complete a student internship. This internship is a culmination of the knowledge and skills obtained and honed in the classroom portion of the program. We assess the student's skills, desires and needs to assure a proper environment for continued learning and ultimate success. The goal of the internship program is to give the students a realistic view of the work environment within the various arenas of food service and culinary arts. Ideally, the student internship will turn into paid employment. Regardless, of this outcome, if the student receives a passing internship grade, we will assist with obtaining paid employment.
