D'Avolio Culinary Institute provides a wide selection of academic offerings. We have something for everyone, young and old, new and returning students.
Each program offers a 10 to 1 student to teacher ratio, unless otherwise noted, to allow for individualized attention for each student.
Students are not required to take general studies courses; all math and reading skills are directly related to culinary arts.
This program is designed for the adult learner whose goal is to work as a cook or future chef in a restaurant, college/university, or high end food service setting.
Students should be a self-starter and able to communicate effectively with others.
Students are creating fine dining food from scratch
This program is designed for the disabled adult learner or new comer to the culinary world whose goal is to work in an entry level food service position and be an active member of a team environment.
Students may be eligible for a job coach to aid with acclimation into paid employment. They must have basic reading and math skills and the ability to communicate effectively with staff and customers. A CDOS Crediential or IEP Diploma are recommended, student may be asked to take an ability to benefit test to determine best class placement. Potential students who score over a 6.0 will be referred to the 625 Hour Culinary Program.
This program focuses on presentation and developing flavors in soups, sandwiches and salads; all made from scratch.
This program option is a great addition to our other program offerings; introducing the basic techniques of baking, developed to feature local, seasonal products.
This program is currently being run in the Fall of the year and we are currently working on elevating our program specifics.
This program will run on Saturdays from 9 am to 2 pm for a period of 10 weeks.
Cooking for Independence - 100 Hours
This program was developed with the community in mind to give students the opportunity to enhance their home cooking skills. Student's will learn how to cook at home safely, creatively and on a budget. Special attention will be paid to reinforcement of the most important topics on a weekly basis.
Our first class is scheduled to begin on June 13, 2017. It will run Tuesday's and Thursday's for a total of 20 weeks.
Total cost is $1700 which includes all materials for success in the course.
